Surface texture can improve the tribological properties of friction pairs, and has been widely used in mechanical seals, cylinder liner-piston rings, thrust bearings, and so on.But in the radial sliding bearing, this technology is still in the stage of theoretical and experimental researches. In order to carry out the application research of surface texture on radial sliding bearing and improve the bearing's lubrication performance, the finite element model of the radial sliding bearing with surface texture was established by ADINA software. The effect of bearing lining material, the shape, dimension, location and deformation?elastic deformation and thermal deformation?of the texture, working condition and other factors on the bearing performance was studied. On the basis of this, the experimental research on the textured bearing was carried out, which verifies the correctness and reliability of the theoretical analysis. The research work and results are as follows:?1?The lubrication performance calculation model of radial sliding bearing was established, and the calculating results in full film model was compared with ones in lower half film model and the calculating error of both models is about 2%.Research results show that the calculating method of lower half oil film is feasible instead of one of complete oil film, which can save a lot of calculating time and improve calculation accuracy by increasing mesh density.?2?Several kinds of partial texture locations were designed on lower half bearing shell, and the effect of texture location on the lubrication performance of the bearing was analyzed. The location of the texture has important influence on the load carrying capacity?LCC?.The LCC can be improved when texture located at lubricant inlet or divergent area.Shallow dimples are better for inlet area texture, while deep dimples are better for divergent area texture;the texture at maximum pressure area can only make the lubrication performance worse. The friction reduction performance of textured bearing will be improved when partial texture located at lubricant oil inlet or outlet areas.?3?Three kinds of performance calculation models such as models-rigid,fluid-solid coupling and thermal-fluid-solid coupling of partial textured bearing were established respectively, and the effect of elastic deformation, thermal deformation and lubricating oil viscosity on the lubrication performance of the bearing was analyzed. The results show that in consideration of the elastic deformation of materials,LCC of the bearing is decreased. The smaller the elastic modulus is,the larger deformation of bearing shell, and the more declined the LCC.When both elastic and thermal deformations of metal bearing shell are taken into account, the LCC is higher than one of elastic deformation considered only.In view of the viscosity change with temperature, the LCC is decreased with the increase of oil temperature, and the main factors affecting the LCC are lubricating oil viscosity, thermal deformation and elastic deformation in significance sequence. The friction coefficient of different material bearing shells is decreased as the lubricating oil temperature increased, and friction coefficient of the white metal shell is minimum, one of non-metallic shells is higher.?4?The experiment study on the lubrication performance of textured bearing was carried out.The results indicate that under low load, the friction coefficient of both partial and full textured bearing shells is lower than no-textured one.The influence of two textured bearing on oil film pressure distribution is not obvious when the revolution speed of the journal is raised to 1 000 r·min-1 and as shaft revolution speed is increased under constant load, the maximum pressure of oil film drops and the eccentricity ratio is decreased, the film thickness increased and the hydrodynamic pressure lubrication effect strengthened.
