The purpose of highway tunnel lighting is to provide the driver with good lighting conditions, thus ensuring driving safety. For drivers driving in tunnels, the dynamic visual response and visual adaptability are the important factors influencing driiving safety. Therefore,it is important to develop a study on dynamic visual effects of tunnel lighting.Through actual investigation and studying on the research and development status of human eye dynamic visual theory on tunnel lighting,,analyzing the mechanism of visual recognition, and designing an experiment to simulate the dynamic recognition of obstacles in the tunnel lighting environment, the relationship between the dynamic visual response time and brightness changes is obtained.Based on this, the tunnel lighting design method in the current specification is compared and analyzed, and an optimized improvement method is proposed. The specific research contents and innovations are as follows:Researching on lighting design and driver dynamic vision of highway tunnel at home and abroad, the physiological mechanism of the driver’s eyes and the influencing factors affecting the driver’s vision in the highway tunnel were studied and analyzed. The visual task performance method was used to design a simulating experiment. The reaction time and detection rate were used as indicators to represent the driver’s visual characteristics. The 21 road tunnels in Shaanxi Province were investigated and the experimental lighting parameters were determined based on the investigated illuminance data and Highway Tunnel Lighting Specification Standard Luminosity Index The experimental equipment was improved based on the existed simulating platform and the software controlling the simulating experiment was compiled. The variation law of the visual target was designed and an experiment to simulate the dynamic recognition of obstacles in the tunnel lighting environment were performed based on the driver’s dynamic visual effects. The reaction time data in the environment of simulating the tunnel interior zone was analyzed under the speed of 40km/h,60km/h and 80km/h,and the functional relationships between reaction time and background luminance at three speeds were obtained, finally the impacts on the dynamic vision at different speeds were analyzed. The experimental data of the final brightness, initial brightness and reaction time under the condition that the light is changed from dark to bright at different vehicle speed are analyzed, and vice versa.Next, the function curve of the reaction time and the ambient brightness is fitted under different vehicle speed and different light environment scenarios, and the impact of speed on the vision in the state of changing light environment is analyzed. Finally, the illumination index of the tunnel interior zone and transition zone is proposed based on dynamic vision, which is more in line with the visual response characteristics of tunnel users in China and provides a theoretical basis for tunnel lighting design.
