Soil is undergoing different stress paths in different geotechnical engineering constructions. The stress-strain relationship of soils can be significantly affected by the stress path.As China’s engineering construction team gradually moves from the domestic to the global, less research on the stress-strain characteristics of soil under different stress paths is increasingly unable to meet the demand for soil design and calculation parameters in different geotechnical engineering constructions. Therefore,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to study the stress-strain characteristics of soils considering the effect of stress paths. This paper first summarizes the predecessors’ research work and achievements,in addition discusses and studies different stress path test methods, finally selects and formulates the stress path test method which is more adapt to actual engineering conditions. That is,the remolded clay is used as the experimental research object, and the deformation and strength characteristics of the soil sample under different stress paths, stress history, stress duration and load rate are stimulated by artificially controlling the axial stress loading rate during the test.Based on this, the stress and strain changes of the soil samples during loading, dead load, unloading and standing after unloading were analyzed and studied. In summary, the main work completed in this paper is as follows:(1)The uniaxial confined compression test under different loading rates was conducted.By changing the initial dry density of the soil sample and the axial stress loading rate during the test loading, the consolidation characteristics of the remolded clay under the uniaxial lateral compression state and the reflected stress and strain changes were Systematic studied. On the basis of the large amount of experimental data, the consolidation deformation characteristics and mechanism of soil samples were analyzed. It was concluded that stress and strain will produce different variations at different stages of the test,so it gives a reliable basis to which will also be analyzed by different stages in later phases.(2)Based on the measured soil lateral stress data measured in the experiment instead of the artificial control, the self-adaptive lateral stress, shear stress and the soil side pressure coefficient of the soil samples are analyzed. It is found that the ratio of lateral stress to axial stress growth rate during loading and the ratio of lateral stress to axial stress at the initial rebound deformation of the soil sample during unloading tend to be constant under different loading paths. On this basis, further analysis and study were made to find the influence of initial dry density on this fixed value.(3)The variation of soil samples is S-shaped growth under different stress paths is discussed. The stress-strain curve has normalized characteristics. It is reasoned that the final deformation of the remolded clay with the same initial conditions under different stress paths is constant.
