Domestic products are closely related to human life.The designs of home products have great potential for development.However,there are still problems such as lack of innovation,waste of materials,difficulties in storage and transportation,inconvenient handling of dismantling and transportation,and low structural design efficiency.The tensegrity prism structure is an ingenious structure,which has many advantages that the traditional structure cannot match such as self-balancing,greater freedom,lighter weight,beautiful appearance,and high material utilization.This structure has attracted extensive attention from researchers and it has been applied in the areas of bionics,aerospace,robotics,but it has rarely been applied in the home products.The aim to this article was that the application of the tensegrity prism structure in household products was explored,and the material,assembly methods,modeling,stability,load-bearing capacity of the structure were analysed through experiments.The analysis results were related to the home products design.The main research work of this paper were as follows:The existing problems and development trends of home products were explored.to expand The advantages of the tensegrity prism structure were applied to artistic application.Based on the topology of the tensegrity prism structure,the ease of assembly was analyzed and the best assembly method was found.The experiments were designed,which the structural models of different materials were fabricated,and the perceptual analysis of the selected materials were performed,and the effects of different materials used as compression rods and cables on the stability of the tensegrity prism structure were researched.The experiments were designed,which the models of different cable size were made,and the influence of the cable size on the bearing capacity of the tensegrity prism structure were analyzed and the structural modeling rules were sum up.Combining with the analysis results,a series of design principles were put forward for the application of the tensegrity prism structure in home products,and the design application of home products were carried out according to the proposed design principles.And the effectiveness and operability of the proposed principle were verified through the test of the product structure models.Through the above research,some ideas,methods and approaches for the application of the tensegrity prism structure in the household products were provided,and the design difficulty of the structure was reduced,and the scope of the application of the tensegrity prism structure was expanded,and the innovative design of the modern home products was enriched.
