Abstract/Summary:
Most of the traditional seismic techniques are realized by increasing the cross-section area of the structure or component,which not only wastes the building materials,but also increases the construction cost.However,its anti-seismic effect is not as obvious as adding dampers in the structure.As a kind of new smart materials,the shape memory alloy material has hyperelastic effect,shape memory effect and high damping property.The shape memory alloy damper,which is made of its advantages,has a broad application prospect in the field of structural vibration control.This paper mainly discusses the shape memory alloy dampers are installed under the two different frames – the concrete frame and the steel frame.The finite element models which are without dampers and each layer with dampers in the direction of X and Y,are generated by the finite element analysis software ANSYS.Firstly,the preceding six mode shapes are calculated trough modal analysis,which contain the natural frequency and vibration mode of those models.Secondly we should select the reasonably seismic records and input them to the software.Then the dynamic response of those structures under earthquake loads can be simulated numerically.Comparing the energy dissipation effect of shape memory alloy dampers in the same position of different frames,we can draw the following conclusions.The first is that the energy dissipating effect of shape memory alloy dampers is good.They can effectively control the response of the frame structures in the earthquake.The second is that the damping effect of shape memory alloy dampers in the concrete frame structure is not as good as those in the flexible steel frame structure.
