Aiming at the surplus water energy in the circulating water system of cooling tower,the design and research of a special water turbine of cooling tower for the recovery of surplus energy is one of the important measures of industrial energy conservation.By analyzing the energy characteristics of circulating water system of cooling tower,it is found that there is considerable residual energy that can be recycled in circulating water system of cooling tower.At the same time,the mechanical ventilation cooling tower equipped with the motor power consumption is huge.Through the design of a special water turbine for cooling tower,the reclaimed water can be converted into rotary mechanical energy to drive the fan,which can greatly improve the energy efficiency.According to the needs of enterprises,the research group has carried out the design and research of the special ultra-low specific speed water turbine for cooling tower to simplify the structure and save energy.At the same time,the design and development of special water turbine for cooling tower also provides a reference for the expansion of the application of water turbine for conventional power generation.The special water turbine of the cooling tower is very different from the conventional power generation water turbine in the operation environment and parameter design,and can’t follow the design idea of traditional power generation water turbine.Therefore,the author mainly carried out the following research work:(1)Analyzed the energy characteristics of the circulating water system of the cooling tower and the specific speed characteristics of the special water turbine of the cooling tower,and determined the type of special water turbine for the cooling tower is mixed flow turbine.(2)Analyzed the difference between the special mixed flow turbine of the cooling tower and the conventional power generation turbine.On the basis of the parameters of the rated operating conditions of the cooling tower’s dedicated turbine,formulated the relevant parameters of the turbine based on the turbine design theory and existing design experience.(3)Based on the theory of one-dimensional,combined with the numerical integration method,the calculation of the blade bone line of the runner was carried out,and obtained the runner with good hydraulic performance.(4)In order to reduce radial size of the special water turbine of the cooling tower and reduce the effect of the cooling tower operating characteristics for the special water turbine,designed a spiral casing with high and narrow cross section,and optimized the hydraulic optimization of the casing.Obtained a spiral casing with good hydraulic performances,small radial size and easy to install.(5)Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD)technology was used to simulate and analyze the full flow channel of the ultra-low specific speed mixed flow turbine.And the numerical simulation results were used to optimize the design of each flow component.Finally,obtained a turbine which meets the requirements of the cooling tower.Under rated conditions,the turbine’s power reaches 85.67 k W,and the turbine’s optimum efficiency of turbine is 78.26%.(6)Estimated and analyzed the hydraulic performance of the special water turbine for cooling tower.The results show that the turbine’s output is uniform and above 72 k W within the range of large flow change and large speed change.The turbine meets the requirements of the fan to drive the cooling tower.
