Gear is a very common part of the mechanical field,and the related technology of gears has been a hot topic.At present,there are kinds of gear measurement equipment,but these equipment are very expensive,and the maintenance is more troublesome,so it is not widely used.With the rapid development of machine vision technology,it is beginning to be widely used because of its advantages of good real-time performance,high stability and high efficiency.Taking advantage of machine vision,this paper applies machine vision to the measurement of gear,the principle of camera calibration is analyzed in detail and calibration method is studied.This article mainly completed the following aspects of the work:Firstly,this paper analyzed the object of measurement and the reality,and designed the visual detection platform of gear.The selection of camera,lens and light source is completed,and the hardware platform of the visual measurement system is built.Secondly,use the calibration toolbox of MATLAB and finish the camera calibration work,and camera calibration was studied.In order to overcome the shortcomings of the traditional optimization algorithm in the process of calibration,particle swarm algorithm was applied to the camera calibration process,the experimental results show that the method is feasible.Thirdly,the image processing technology involved in gear measurement is elaborated,such as image filtering,threshold segmentation,edge detection,mask processing,etc.Fourthly,according to the parameters of the gear: center of gear,number of teeth,design the appropriate measurement method.Fifthly,a parameter measurement experiment is carried out with helical gear,and the experimental data is compared with the theoretical value to analyze the cause of the error.In this paper,the measurement of gear based on machine vision technology has a broad application prospect.Camera calibration is an important link in the application of machine vision,the camera calibration algorithm based on Improved Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO)is also a good reference for the study of calibration method.
