Reinforced concrete structures play an important role in the civil engineering industry,because the concrete material has high compression ability and low cost,together with the tight bond with the steel,making the reinforced concrete members have good bearing capacity and seismic performance.In order to conform to the development of prefabricated construction,more and more new types of stirrup configuration with good seismic performance have been used.The configuration of five-spiral stirrup is one of them.The new stirrup configuration has the advantages of saving labor force,improving production efficiency,improving working environment,reducing construction period and improving product quality.In this paper,the mechanical properties of five-spiral stirrup columns and the traditional stirrup columns are researched.The analysis of the traditional stirrup columns is mainly contrast.The main contents and conclusions are as follows:(1)Axial compression experiment analysis.Axial-compression experiment are used to analyze the bearing capacity,the force situation of the longitudinal reinforcement,the force situation of the stirrup and the ductility of five-spiral stirrup columns and the traditional stirrup columns.The results show that the five-spiral stirrups can effectively improve the bearing capacity and ductility of concrete columns,and has better ductility and better seismic performance compared with traditional stirrups.Compared with the utilization ratio of the steel in the traditional stirrup columns,the steel of the five-spiral stirrups columns can be fully utilized.(2)Bias experiment analysis.Bias-compression experiment are used to analyze the bearing capacity,the force situation of the internal reinforcement,the change of deflection and the ductility of five-spiral stirrup columns and the traditional stirrup columns.The results show that the deflection of five-spiral stirrups columns is larger than that of the traditional stirrups columns,which fully shows that the ductility of the five-spiral stirrups columns is stronger than that of the traditional stirrups column,and the utilization rate of the steel in the five-spiral stirrups columns is still higher than that of the traditional stirrups column.(3)Finite element analysis.The finite element analysis software ABAQUS is used to analyze the bearing capacity and ductility of the five-spiral stirrups columns and the traditional stirrup column.The mechanical properties of five-spiral stirrups columns with different section sizes,different concrete strength and different stirrups strength were also analyzed.The results show that the new stirrup configuration of five-spiral stirrups can be applied to concrete columns with different cross section sizes,and their deformation capacity is stronger than traditional stirrups columns.The bearing capacity of the five-spiral stirrups increases with the increase of concrete strength or steel strength,but the concrete strength has little effect on the ductility of five-spiral stirrups columns.(4)Comparison and analysis the results of experiment and FEM.The results of the experiment and the finite element analysis show that the result of the experiment is in good agreement with the finite element analysis.
