There are three problems in the current method of reducing overvoltage in UHV AC transmission system,the first is that the operation overvoltage can not be reduced in depth,Second is the lack of reliability in operating overvoltage operation methods,The third is that the cost of reducing UHV overvoltage is too high.Facing the above three problems,the concept of clearance and switch type controllable arrester is proposed in this paper.The core method is to control the input number of the lightning arrester resistors flexibly by the controller according to the overvoltage or the normal running state,to change the volt ampere characteristic curve of the arrester.The lightning arrester is highly reliable in the normal operation of the power system,and the overvoltage can be greatly reduced to the specified value in the case of transient overvoltage.This method is more economical and reliable than the current method of reducing over-voltage operation,and this method is more economical and reliable than the current method of reducing overvoltage,and has a great optimization effect on UHV transmission project in China.In this paper,describing the operating overvoltage characteristics of UHV transmission system and the shortcomings of its suppression methods,and proposing a new type of controllable arrester for clearance switch controlled lightning arrester,researching on operation overvoltage characteristics and methods and measures.This paper focuses on the key technology of the control module of the UHV controllable arrester,including:control strategy and parameter selection of controllable arrester,gap study,fast-switch research and controller research,by the mean time,the reliability of the control module of the controllable arrester is carried out,which demonstrates the feasibility of the clearance switch type controllable arrester.
