The purpose of this paper lies in the collation and analysis of previous research on Piranesi's early life of Giovanni Battista Piranesi on the first chapter, from the perspective of personal growth and teacher-student relationship, and his early development of artistic style. In the second chapter, the author will discuss the evolution process of his style combined with Piranesi's aechaeological illustration and landscape prints in Rome[Veduta],and how Piranesi converts his imagination into the portrayal of the antiquities in Rome. Then focus on the series of his Carceri, taking this as an example to explore the fantasy elements in Piranesi's artistic creation. In the third chapter, the author will concentrate on the analysis of Piranesi's late works of Paestum Temple,in order to interpret the meaning of the purport and implication of"ruins" for the significance of Piranesi's art career. The last fourth chapters summarize the influence of Piranesi on the history of archaeology, architectural design and painting,as well as the role of the fantasy in neoclassicism and even the romantic trend.
