Water load is the main load for arch dam structure,which is related to the stability and safety of arch dam structure.There are mainly three methods of water load application:surface force application,body force application and combined application of surface force and body force.The stress responses of arch dams obtained by different application methods are different.In order to study the effect of water loading methods on arch dam structure,the seepage?stress coupling analysis theory and the theory of finite element method(FEM)are applied,the stress response of arch dam under different water loading methods are analyzd.Besides,water loading methods influence on the overall bearing capacity of arch dam is studied.The main contents are as follows:(1)The current research status of water load and its application methods and the seepage-stress coupling analysis in porous media is summarized.(2)Based on the theory of effective stress?elastoplastic mechanics and finite element analysis,the mathematical model and finite element analysis equation of seepage and stress coupling in saturated unsaturated porous media are established,which lays a theoretical foundation for the FEM to analysis the coupled problem of seepage and stress.(3)The process of finite element analysis software ABAQUS and its theory about coupling seepage and stress are introduced.The essentials of coupling analysis of seepage and stress by ABAQUS are expounded.(4)Three different water loading methods are analyzed:dam surface under hydrostatic pressure,dam and reservoir rock surface under hydrostatic pressure,hydrostatic pressure on the face of dam and seepage load on foundation.Arch dam's stress and deformation under different water loading methods are analyzed,and the influence of different application methods on the stress and displacement of dam is compared.The results show that the effect of hydrostatic pressure on dam surface or hydrostatic pressure on the face of dam and seepage load on foundation have little influence on the stress and displacement response of arch dam.The stress response increases more than 30%when the water pressure of reservoir rock surface is considered.(5)Considering dam weight and temperature load,two load conditions are analyzed:dam surface under hydrostatic pressure and hydrostatic pressure on the surface of dam and seepage load on foundation,using the overloading method,the overall bearing capacity of arch dam structure is analyzed.The stress and strain response and structural safety factor of dam under different load conditions are studied.
