The design of modular Top-Down is the process which combines products' modulardesign and Top-Down design. It's a contemporary way to design. It is used for products'design and manufacture which has many types and is quantified. That more and morefirms paying attention and adopting provides premise and basis for the design of modularTop-Down about production. Top-Down is a kind of ideology and mode that designs fromtop to down, and it requires transfer from the top of production to bottom progressively.It's a refined process from whole to portion of production. So during the design ofdifferent systems, designers could make the collaborative design and concurrent designcome true.This article describes the the theory of modular design, and based on the abovetheory to study the principle of the division between the module, the coding and namingrules and interface between them briefly of forklift truck door frame system. As the wayof modular and Top-Down to design and the process to analysis production from top tobottom, we divide the design of modular Top-Down about forklift systems into threeparts that include design of layout, skeleton model and detailed design. After modulardividing, forklift systems possess independent module and those who have analogousfunctions modules can swap with each other or derivate new module by concurrentdesign. Also it describes the designing environment of forklift mast and the way tointegrate and concurrent design about Windchill system and Cero software.This paper also studied the feature modeling and assembly modeling which supportthe Top-Down design, the concept of product structure tree is given and defined thehierarchy of forklift mast system, the important system parameters can passed to eachskeleton model by declaring layout file, and the skeleton model as a door frame systemassembly reference source. In this paper, the parametric design of forklift mast system ismade during product Top-Down Design modeling process, by changing the parameters ofthe information to implement Forklift Mast attitude control. Finally, the Top-Downmodular design process of forklift mast system is built based on the above method andtheory, listed the interfaces relation between the various forklift mast systems anddescribed the parameterized control process of forklift mast working and hydraulicsystems hoses design. The results show that a reasonable modular Top-Down Design canmake the product design data transfer more clearly, it greatly improves the efficiency ofproduct design and shorten the new product developing periods.
