In recent years, the problem of environmental pollution has received more and more attention. The government have continuously increased the supervision and punishment of enterprises which pollute the environment.Scholars are also actively studying the impact of environmental pollution on the economy and society. For individuals, environmental pollution not only threatens human health, but also can increase people's consumption on health care, both of them can make people unwillingly increase their investment in their own health. One of the important investment methods is to purchase commercial health insurance. The paper analyzes the demand theory and influencing factors of commercial health insurance and the related theories of environmental pollution and commercial health insurance demand, and analyzes the mechanism of generating health investment demand after micro-subjects are stimulated by environmental pollution from psychological and physiological paths. It is theoretically demonstrated that environmental pollution factors will have some impact on the demand for commercial health insurance. Then we use statistical methods to compare the differences between the market size, development speed, insurance depth and premium density of commercial health insurance in eastern, central and western regions of China, confirming that there are indeed regional development differences in China's commercial health insurance market. In the empirical part,we divide 31 provinces into new areas according to the degree of pollution, and build a panel data regression model for the whole country and the three types of polluted areas,in order to verify that there are regional differences in the impact of environmental pollution factors on commercial health insurance demand. The empirical findings show that in different polluted areas, there are significant regional differences between environmental pollution and commercial health insurance. In heavily polluted areas, this effect is significantly negative;and in the area where the environmental quality is relatively good,it is significantly positive.Considering that the possible reason for this difference may be related to residents' physiological and psychological feelings, this article proposes that insurance companies should introduce health management knowledge and methods when selling products, and guide residents to pay attention to ex-ante risk control. In addition, this paper provides new ideas for the cooperation between the government and insurance.
