The dissociation of mineral monomer is one of the key factors for efficient mineral processing.The comminution method has a great influence on the dissociation degree of mineral monomers.The Bayan Obo mine contains dozens of rare earth minerals that are closely associated with other category minerals.The rare earths are mainly concentrated in fluorocarbon cerium and monazite ore.Analysis shows that minerals are interspersed with each other and substitutions to form abutments reticulate veins,erosion,and circular inlays.The traditional ball mill crushes minerals,due to the presence of the grinding media(iron medium),it is difficult to maintain the original crystal shape and surface gloss of the particles when the particles reach the micron level.At the same time,due to the pollution of the grinding media,it is difficult to obtain high quality and high Purity ultrafine powder.In order to improve the dissociation degree of the monomers in the ore comminution,a water jet mineral dissociation device is developed independently under the guidance of theory and FLUENT fluid simulation.The high-speed jet beam instantly impacts the particles to produce a water wedge effect,which causes the particles to "tear" along different mineral interfaces and strike the target at a speed close to the water flow to achieve the purpose of crushing.By comparing the test of jet velocity on the crushing effect of Bayan Obo mine,the analysis shows that: Water jet technology has strong superfine crushing ability,and with the increase of jet velocity,the crushing effect is more obvious.Among them,the yield of 74?m and below is 67.23%,which is an increase of43.23% compared with the original ore.Under the same particle size percentage,the test results of high-pressure water jet pulverization and conventional ball mill(iron medium)were compared.The effects of the two methods on the dissociation state of rare earth minerals and the particle interface were analyzed by Laser Confocal Microscopy and Advanced Mineral Identification and Characterization System(AMICS).Analysis shows that the rare earth mineral monomer dissociation degree by water jet crush is higher than that by ball milling with relatively uniform particle size and cleaner and well retained natural interfaces.Rare earth mineralsare concentrated in the particle size of 38?m and below,and the dissociation content of rare earth mineral monomer is increased by 15.46% compared with ball mill,which is beneficial to the enrichment and recovery of rare earth.The test showed that the water jet crushing showed a difference.The difference is reflected in the rare earth concentrated in the fine-grained part after the high-pressure water jet crushing,but there is no obvious difference after the ball mill crushing.After crushed by water jet,it is more conducive to the separation and recovery of rare earth minerals.Water jet comminution has some advantage for the ore comminution of Bayan Obo mine.
