Nowadays,China has inevitably become an aging country because of the continuous development of the economic level,rapid advancement in science,technology and medical care,and declining of birth rate.China is one of the countries with the largest aging population in the world.The proportion of the elderly population in our country is increasing,so the responsibilities and pressures of the only children are becoming heavier.The number of old people living alone also increased accordingly.How to make these elderly people having more happy and healthy lives has become an urgent problem for the whole society of the country.Nowadays,more and more people choose old-age apartments in their later years.Our government is also actively promoting related policies in order to release the scientific development of the elderly service institutions.However,with the continuous development of China’s elderly service industry,various problems have also been exposed.Because the number of elderly people living in old-age apartments is increasing,the number and energy of apartment management staff is not enough.It is impossible to provide comprehensive care for every old-age person living in the apartment.However,the elderly people are less-sensitive to the change of environment parameters such as temperature and humidity due to their older age.In the emergency situations such as a fire in an apartment,they cannot respond in a timely manner and are very likely to be harmed.We proposed a smart elderly apartment fire monitoring system based on wireless sensor networks,and build software and hardware platforms to improve the level of care for elderly apartments in this thesis.We designed the overall scheme of the system according to user needs in this thesis.The research on terminal nodes,router nodes and coordinator nodes completes the collection of environmental parameters,and relays and forwards data was conducted in the lower computer.It adopted ZigBee wireless communication method to perform serial communication with the upper computer.Four main modules for monitoring the upper computer software were designed.They were user information management module,node data processing module,node data management module and the early warning monitoring module of the apartment.Their related functions were also be implemented.The apartment staffs can monitor the environmental dates such as temperature,humidity and smokeconcentration collected from terminal nodes in real time on the PC of the monitoring host computer,send out alarms before dangerous situations occur,and send text messages and emails to the relevant staff to remind them to deal with the situation in a timely manner.For the early warning monitoring module of the system,we propose a fuzzy inference algorithm based on information fusion.By using the ambient temperature and smoke concentration as inputs to the fuzzy controller,the fuzzy inference algorithm is used to evaluate multiple information in order to ensure the accuracy and early warning results.Finally,the system can monitor the environmental parameters of the elderly apartments and provide early warning of fire after testing and analyzing the performance of the system.
