The riser reactor is the most significant part of the Fluid Catalytic Cracking(FCC)unit.Investigation on the flow process occurring inside the riser reactor is of crucial importance, especially, the analysis of flow conditions in industrial-scale riser reactors can provide guidance for the design and optimization of industrial equipment. In this investigation, based on the Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD)the flow conditions was studied in different scales riser reactors.Established the Euler-Euler Two Fluid Method(TMF),and calculated the distribution of volume fraction and velocity of gas and solid in different risers.Based on the CFD results, the solid holdups was converted to catalyst to oil ratio, which can be better understood the flow reaction process in the riser reactor. The established two fluid model was first applied to simulate a small scale lifting tube riser reactor and then validated through the comparison of simulation results and design data. The distribution of catalyst velocity and catalyst density were intensively investigated during the CFD numerical simulation, which further verified the rationality of model parameters. The two fluid model was applied to simulate the industrial riser reactor.Based on the CFD results, the distribution of catalyst to oil ratio was obtained in the MIP riser reactor.Multiple CSTR and PFR reactors are used to represent the flow characteristics inside the MIP riser reactor, connected these reactors.Hence,a novel ideal reactor model named equivalent reactor network(ERN)was constructed for the MIP riser reactor. The findings identified the parameters of the ERN,verified the feasibility of this method for industrial-scale MIP riser reactor. The ERN model can reduce the amount of calculations when analyzing the flow conditions of industrial-scale MIP reactor.
