With the continuous development of rocket technology,the propulsion systems put forward higher and higher requirements for the performance of solid rocket motor,of which the burning rate of propellant is one of the important indicators.The ultrasonic measurement method of solid propellant burning rate,which has many advantages,has been widely used in foreign countries.However,in China,the industrial application of ultrasonic burning rate measurement technology has not been realized yet.In this paper,the feasibility of industrial application of ultrasonic burning rate measurement is studied.A high pressure closed burner system is designed,which has been used to record the combustion processes of solid propellant by ultrasonic measurement method.This system can be used as a standard equipment for measuring burning rate of solid propellant in industry.First of all,according to the characteristics of ultrasonic burning rate measurement,the static tests are carried out.The ultrasonic characteristics database of materials of solid engine is established.The influence of different burning surface profile characteristics on ultrasonic echo signal is studied,and the feasibility of measuring complex charge profile by ultrasonic method is explored.Secondly,the influence of combustion chamber pressure on burning rate measurement is analyzed and a dynamic compression device is designed.This device can accurately measure the deformation of propellant under pressure environment,and get more accurate propellant pressure influence coefficient,which provides experimental method and implementation means for error correction of ultrasonic dynamic burning rate measurement.Finally,a high pressure closed burner system is designed,which has been used to record the combustion processes of solid propellant in the closed combustor.Two-dimensional image processing method and image enhancement technology have been used to obtain the position of the burning surface.The real-time burning rate data in 0 ~ 15 MPa range and the corresponding relationship between burning rate and pressure can be obtained.
