Cutting tool is an important part of machine tool processing.The degree of tool wear has different influence on the machining accuracy of the workpiece.In the process of machine tool processing,tool wear detection technology is very important to improve the efficiency of automatic machining,tool utilization,the quality of the workpiece and the cost of production.Various means in tool wear detection technology,the image processing technology based on computer vision is becoming more and more prominent with the advantages of convenience,shortcut,no contact and high detection precision.This paper adopts the computer vision detection method to detect tool wear,and based on the small field of view building tool wear detection system,it has been realized.High precision inspection of off-line tool wear.The main contents of this paper are as follows:Firstly,Fourier transform profilometry is applied to tool wear detection.The principle of the fringe projection technique is analyzed,the projection stripe is produced,the projector is projected onto the tool wear surface,the image is collected by the camera,the image is preprocessed,such as cutting and image enhancement,and the Fourier transform,filtering,phase and phase unwrapping are carried out,and the fringe pattern is obtained.Tool wear information in the image.Secondly,the tool wear detection system is designed based on the small field projection structure.According to the needs of the hardware equipment selection,by changing the stripe projection path,to achieve the projection of the field of view to fit the size of the tool wear surface,and to calibrate the system.Then,the repeatability experiment is carried out in the tool wear detection,and the related software development is completed,and the functions of image acquisition,reading,preprocessing,wear measurement and so on are realized.Finally,based on the source of error,the tool wear detection based on computer vision is completed.The system basically meets the requirements of tool wear detection.
