Since the industrial revolution, the global economy has developed rapidly, but ecological and environmental problems have emerged frequently. Therefore, opening up new economic growth paths and achieving coordinated development of the economy, society and the environment have been put on an important agenda. In recent years,China has also faced increasingly serious environmental pollution problems, which not only seriously affect people's living environment and quality of life, but also seriously hinder China's sustainable development. In 2003,the birth of the "Equator Principles" provided banking financial institutions with a set of principles to be followed when assessing project financing.Banking financial institutions were required to incorporate the social and environmental risks of the project into the assessment area.People gradually realized that green credit The importance of a green financial instrument for ecological protection and environmental governance. In this context,China has also actively explored and tried to develop green credit. In 2007,it officially established green credit as one of the most important financial tools for China to achieve energy conservation and emission reduction. So does green credit play a substantial role in environmental pollution control? It is of great practical significance to clarify this issue to achieve a win-win situation for China's economic development and environmental protection. This paper focuses on the research of green credit on environmental pollution control from the theoretical analysis and empirical research. In terms of theoretical analysis,on the basis of combing domestic and foreign green credit related literature and related theories, further explore the mechanism of green credit on environmental pollution control. Then review the development history of China's green credit-related policies, and find out the remaining deficiencies, and then expound the status quo of green credit and environmental pollution. In empirical research, this paper builds on the spatial correlation of environmental pollution.A spatial econometric model to assess the impact of global and regional green credit on environmental pollution governance. Finally, based on the above analysis results, the policy recommendations for further development of green credit and environmental pollution control are proposed. The conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)The environmental pollutionstatus of 30 provinces in China shows a significant positive correlation in space;(2)Green credit has a significant positive impact on environmental pollution control as a whole;Structural optimization and economic development have all played a significant role in improving environmental pollution;while the degree of openness, environmental protection investment and urbanization have a significant negative impact on the environment;(3)Green credit to the environment in coastal areas and inland areas There are significant differences in the impact of pollution control;among them, green credit in coastal areas has played a significant role in improving the environment, while the improvement of environmental credit in the inland areas is not obvious. The industrial structure optimization, the degree of openness and the impact of environmental protection investment on environmental pollution in the control variables also showed significant regional differences.
