Multi-material parts is wide use in automobile,construction,medical,electronics,aerospace and other fields,it is important to optimize the geometric structure and material distribution for improving its performance.To support the multi-material topology optimization method which combined geometrical design and material design,it’s necessary to realize the part geometrical modeling for geometric topological transformation and realize the part material modeling for material distribution changing.At present,computer-aided design(CAD)is lacking in the expression of material properties of multi-material parts,so it is important to study the discretization expression method of multi-material parts.Apart from the outside shape description of geometrical model and inside composite description of material model,in different application scenarios,for different physical analysis process,physical properties description is need to establish corresponding.In order to visualize the multi-physical properties analysis process of multi-material parts,it’s necessary to develop a design modeling software.Focus on the above requirements,this paper mainly studies voxel discretization algorithm,design and expression of multi-material parts,modeling method of physical properties and development of voxel-based geometry modeling software.To realize the voxel discretization of part geometry,a feature-based surface voxelization algorithm and an the scan-padding internal voxelization are studied to realize the transformation from triangular mesh model to voxel model.For the definition and design of the material distribution inside the part,a gradient source mapping method based on the voxel model is studied in order to realize the physical property expression in different geometrical positions.For the classical physical processes analysis such as structural deformation and heat conduction,the micro element description of the voxel model is constructed by using the finite element method.For the storage,transformation and expression triangular mesh model and voxel model,this paper also design the data structure of them.Finally,to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method,a voxel modeling software prototype is developing using OpenCASCADE geometry modeling kernel and MFC application framework under Windows environment.
