Amorphous materials are new type of materials with excellent properties(such as high strength, high hardness, superplasticity, corrosion resistance, good resistivity etc.),and have broad application prospects in the fields of industry, medicine, aerospace and aviation. At present, exploration of amorphous alloy materials by experimental preparation has attracted much attention. Therefore,it is necessary to seek a reliable theoretical model to study amorphous forming ability of alloy systems, and provide reference for experimental preparation. In this paper, amorphous forming ability of binary transition metal,non-transition metal and rare earth metal based alloys have been studied by using the bond parametric function theory which had been successfully applied to the formation regularity of solid solution. The size factor R and the electron factor (?)are used to construct the bond parametric function, and used the size factor as the abscissa and the electron factor as the ordinate to construct the bond parameter map.Drawing the coordinates of each element on the bond parameter map,and it has been found that the formed amorphous constituent elements region and the unformed amorphous constituent elements region can be well separated by an ellipse curve, and the elliptic equation is(?).In order to verify the reliability of the theoretical model, this theoretical model and elliptic regularity are used to study the experimental data of existing amorphous alloys. The results show that the experimental data of 298 binary transition metal based amorphous alloys,276 of them are located in the formation region, and total accuracy is 92.6%;the experimental data of 101 binary non-transition metal based amorphous alloys,96 of them are located in the formation region, and total accuracy is 92.6%;the experimental data of 92 binary rare earth metal based amorphous alloys,85 of them are located in the formation region, and the total accuracy is 92.4%.The constants m,n,c and d in elliptic equation are positive correlation to parameters R,(?) and E for each host metal respectively, that is to say,(?) and (?).This method indicates that the theoretical result is very good in agreement with the experimental data. Therefore, the theoretical model can be seen as a semi-empirical criterion for studying and searching for new amorphous alloys.
