Carbon disclosure refers to the disclosure of carbon information by enterprises, which is an important part of carbon management.Under the background of global warming, the society pays more and more attention to the carbon performance of enterprises, which makes the establishment of a standardized carbon disclosure system necessary.Previous studies mainly focus on objective factors affecting carbon disclosure, but as voluntary information disclosure, carbon disclosure is driven by managers' subjective consciousness, which is closely related to cultural factors. And as a long-term and stable factor, culture is complementary to the establishment of laws and regulations, making the study of cultural factors more practical. Also, the uncertainty of climate change caused by carbon emissions makes the study of "uncertainty avoidance" more valuable among various cultural factors. In this paper, the direct and moderating effects of "uncertainty avoidance" on carbon disclosure transparency is studied by empirical research using the samples of enterprises covered by the global CDP questionnaire from 2009 to 2017.The study finds out that the stronger "uncertainty avoidance" leads to the higher carbon disclosure transparency, while the worse corporate carbon performance leads to the higher carbon disclosure transparency. And under the environment of high "uncertainty avoidance",the negative effect of carbon performance on carbon disclosure transparency is strengthened. The study results confirm the effects of "uncertainty avoidance" on carbon disclosure transparency, and reveal the "greenwashing" behavior of enterprises to some extent, that is,enterprises take some measures to show their attitude of being responsible for the environment, which is actually not the real and effective behavior of environmental protection, indicating the necessity of establishing a standardized carbon disclosure system.
