Photo-Thermo-Refractive(PTR)glass is an optical glass,which undergoes crystallization after exposure of ultraviolet light and heat treatment.The crystallization results refractive index difference between origin glass and post-treatment glass.The Volume Bragg Grating prepared by PTR glass has has excellent modulation characteristics,spectral and angular selectivity,whose applications,such as,improving laser beam quality,decreasing the volume of laser systems,and stabilizing the output spectrum of semiconductor lasers,are of great significance for the development of laser devices.Traditional PTR glass formula,Si-Al-Na-Zn glass system,has obvious disadvantages of high temperature viscosity,which leads to high difficulty for laboratory preparation.This paper proposes a new glass formula with addition of boron,which can decrease viscosity of high temperature of PTR glass,the preparation process,optical and photo-thermal characteristics of the PTR glass are also studied.In this paper,the role of each component of glass in the vitreous is studied systematically.By studying the viscosity theory of glass,the matrix component of PTR glass with lower viscosity of high temperature is designed.The doping component of boron-containing PTR glass was designed based on theory research and experiments.The laboratory preparation scheme of boron-containing was studied,and the test method of the glass was introduced.The optimum nucleation and crystallization temperature of the glass was concluded.The transmittance test shows that the posttreated PTR glass has a transmittance of more than 90% in the range of 400 to 2600 nm with Excellent optical performance,and the existence of Na F crystallites in the post-treated glass was confirmed by high transmittance electron diffraction microscopy and selected area electron diffraction.The influence of Br content of PTR glass for nucleation,crystallization and refractive index modulation properties of Br in PTR glass were studied.The effect of Br on the various stages of post-treatment of PTR glass is discussed based on mechanism research,which provides a theoretical basis for improving the refractive index modulation performance of PTR glass and preparing PTR glass with positive refractive index modulation.This paper provides a basis for the research of PTR glass from three aspects: component design,laboratory preparation scheme and post-treatment mechanism of PTR glass.
