Based on the heat transfer behavior through the cooling water, copper wall and billet in the mold,a two-dimensional fluid-solid-heat coupled numerical model in the mold was created. The lowest temperature area on the cold surface of the copper wall appears at the inlet of the cooling water. The temperature is basically the same as the inlet temperature. The highest temperature area on the hot surface is formed near 50 mm below the meniscus. The highest temperature value is 148?168?.There is a high temperature zone at the exit of the crystallizer. The temperature and speed of cooling water have a significant effect on the temperature of the copper wall.Reducing the water temperature and increasing the water speed can generally reduce the overall temperature of the copper wall. The temperature distribution of the cooling water in the water gap is uneven. The temperature on the copper wall side rises faster. The temperature on the water jacket side rises slowly. The highest temperature zone of cooling water appears near 40 mm below the meniscus on the side of the copper wall. The highest temperature value is 73?94?.The cooling water temperature at the outlet of the water slit tends to be uniform. When the water supply way is changed from the bottom water supply to the top water supply, the temperature in the upper high temperature area of the copper wall decreases. At the same time, the temperature in the lower low temperature area increases. The uniformity of the temperature in the copper wall is improved.Under the typical process condition, the temperature on the hot copper surface 50 mm below the meniscus is reduced by 8.3? when the top water supply way is used.Increasing the drawing speed generally makes the temperature of the copper wall rise. When the drawing speed is increased from 2.5m/min to 4.5m/min under the typical cooling condition, the maximum temperature in the lower zone of the copper wall rises about 13?.At the same time, the maximum temperature of the copper wall rises only 1.9?.The cast temperature has no significant effect on the cooling water and copper wall temperature.Figure 43;Table 5;Reference 68.
