In this paper, for a machining scheme on a lathe that uses rotation to obtain a spherical surface and additional linear movement of the tool—for aspherical, the contact conditions of the cutting part of the tool with the sheared and machined layers(with flat, spherical and aspherical surfaces)are considered.Attempts were also made to analytically predict the likely wear of a diamond tool depending on the cutting conditions and contact duration of each individual point, which is especially important for long-term processing of massive parts.Based on the data on the expected wear and,as a consequence,on the change in the shape of the tool and the characteristics of its cutting parts, the impact of these changes on the shape of the processed surface is estimated.Recommendations on the correction of the trajectory are formulated in order to increase the tool life and improve the properties of the processed surface.
