Cotton is one of the most commonly used materials in the textile industry,with good permeability,moisture absorption and thermal properties.Sizing is needed in the weaving process of cotton fabric to reduce hairiness and increase yarn strength,thus improving the weaving efficiency and quality.In order to meet the requirements of subsequent processing,cotton fabric must undergo desizing process.The traditional desizing method is to treat the waste water with strong alkali solution at high temperature,and subsequent washing is needed.The resulting waste water has a high pH value and must be neutralized,which will cause a large amount of water resources and energy waste.Textile waste water also causes serious environmental pollution,does not meet the requirements of energy conservation and emission reduction,is not conducive to the sustainable development of the textile industry.Therefore,it is very meaningful to find a method of desizing method with low cost and less pollution.The plasma desizing method used in this paper is an environmentally friendly technology,which does not require water and chemical reagents,and will not affect the properties of cotton fabric.This method greatly reduces the amount of chemicals used and the amount of waste water discharged,reduces the cost,and has great economic and environmental benefits.The starch size on cotton fabric was treated by glow discharge plasma at atmospheric pressure.The parameters such as plasma voltage,duty cycle and oxygen flow rate were changed,their effects on the weight loss,desizing rate,whiteness,capillary effect,tensile strength and elongation at break of the fabrics were systematically evaluated.The results show that with the increase of duty ratio and oxygen flow rate,the weight loss rate,desizing rate and gross effect of cotton fabric increase,and the rate increases slowly when duty ratio exceeds 60%,and the weight loss rate and desizing rate increase gradually with the increase of treatment voltage,the plasma treatment had little effect on the Whiteness and elongation at break,but the tensile strength increased slightly.The optimum parameters of plasma treatment are: Voltage 320 V,duty ratio 60%,oxygen flow1000 L / H,desizing rate 10.46%,tensile strength 168.4N,desizing effect is better thantraditional desizing cotton fabric.Due to the small machining space and slow reaction rate of the atmospheric pressure glow discharge plasma device,the atmospheric pressure wide-width glow plasma device can be adopted,which can be used in industrial applications.The effects of plasma discharge current and discharge time on cotton fabric are investigated.The experimental results show that with the increase of discharge current and discharge time,the weight loss rate and gross effect increase,and the tensile strength increases first and then decreases,the desizing rate increases with the increase of discharge current,and then decreases with the increase of discharge time.To sum up,effect of atmospheric pressure plasma is good,energy-saving and environmental protection,has a broad application prospect.
