With the development of modern industry,more and more engineering materials are required.Nickel-based alloys and titanium alloys have played important roles in many fields due to their excellent properties,Among these alloys,GH4169 alloy and TC4 alloy are frequently used in shaping workpieces.They both are difficult to cut with traditional machining methods.The main problem is,the tool wearance,The wire electrical discharge machining(WEDM)is one of traditional machining methods and because there is no mechanical cutting force between the tool wire and the workpiece.In this paper,the wire EDM machine tool M735 is used as a test platform to study the effect of pulse width,pulse interval,wire-travel speed and power tube number on the workpiece removal rate MMR and surface roughness Ra.Machining parameters optimization is accquired by analysis with experimental methods.Firstly the influence of pulse width,wire speed,pulse interval and power tube number on the material removal rate MMR and surface roughness Ra of GH4169 alloy and TC4 alloy were studied by single factor experiment results.The MMR and Ra of workpieces were compared between the two materials.And the surface morphology,passivation and chip removal were analyzed.Through orthogonal test and polar variance analysis,the influence mechanism of four factors on the material removal rate and surface roughness in the wire EDM machining of the two alloys were studied mainly.The result is that the pulse width was the main factor influencing the MMR and the Ra of the GH4169 alloy and TC4 alloy.And the simulation analysis verifieds the anslysis above.According to the simulation results,analyze the difference between the two kinds of alloy wire EDM.Based on the orthogonal test results,the gray correlation analysis method was used to optimize machining parameters to improve the material removal rate and surface roughness.Finally,for GH4169 alloy the optimal parameters were obtained.It was that pulse width is 24μs,pulse interval is 80μs,the number of power tubes is 6,and the wire speed is 6.6m/s.And when machining TC4 alloy in WEDM the optimal parameters were that combination pulse width is 16μs The pulse interval is 80μs,the number of power tubes is 5,and the wire walking speed is 4.4m/s.The verification experiments are preformed and the optimized results were verified.In this paper,through a series of experiments and analysis,the effect mechanism of machining parameters on the removal rate and the Ra of the GH4169 alloy and TC4 alloy are studied,and the machining parameters are optimized.
