Ion Chromatography(IC),as an important branch of liquid chromatography, has become the preferred method for the analysis of ionized compounds since its inception because of its advantages of speed and convenience, high sensitivity, model selection, high capacity and simultaneous analysis of a variety of ionic compounds.Ion chromatography is widely used in the field of biomedical, food industry, chemical industry, new energy and daily life.It is closely related to our life and provides accurate data support for guiding scientific research and production. However, with the increasing diversity and complexity of samples, ion chromatography as a commonly used analytical method has some limitations,a separation mode often can not provide sufficient separation efficiency.Therefore,two-dimensional ion chromatography system and an ion chromatography-mass spectrometry system were constructed on the basis of one-dimensional ion chromatography. The former method was combined with valve-switching technology not only overcomes the limited resolution observed in one-dimensional ion chromatography, but also simplifies the tedious operation and greatly reduces the test time. The latter method reduced the detection limit and can better detect trace ions at low concentrations. Therefore,it is of great significance to establish a multi-dimensional ion chromatography and a combination technique between ion chromatography and different chromatographic methods for simultaneous and accurate analysis of various components in complex samples. The main concents of this paper are as follows:(i)Determination of amino acids in yellow rice wine, galactinol and raffinose in plants, amylopectin in rice by single column ion chromatography;(ii)Simultaneous detection of six anions and nine carbohydrates in cyanobacteria by two-dimensional ion chromatography;(iii)Determination of nine organic acids in dairy products by ion chromatography tandem mass spectrometry.
