Graphene, molybdenum disulfide, black phosphorus and other two-dimensional materials have exciting prospects for sensing devices, which has aroused unprecedented research upsurge in the field of basic chemistry, physics and technology application. The shortcomings of each material(such as graphene without band gap, black phosphorus instability),this paper proposes to study the physical and chemical properties(morphology, thickness, size, element, composition and structure)of two-dimensional layered sulfur-based nanomaterials are investigated, the photochemical properties were explored, with emphasis on light absorption, light emission and electrochemical luminescence.A new kind of 2D layered nanomaterials, sulfur nanosheets(S-NSs),were synthesized by a facile hydrothermal assembling of sulfur quantum dots through sublimed sulfur reacted with alkali and H2O2 in the presence of polyethylene glycol-400(PEG).Sonication of the as-synthesized S-NSs yielded monolayered S-NSs(sulfuene)as thin as 0.84 nm.It was found that tuning the reaction conditions such as reagent amount, preassembling time and hydrothermal time can also controllably synthesize sulfur nanorods and sulfur nanotubes. Moreover, direct sonication exfoliation of sublimed sulfur with bovine serum albumin(BSA)or PEG was feasible for obtaining layered S-NSs.The synthesized S-NSs were characterized by Raman,XPS and XRD,The electrochemical properties of S-NSs were investigated,S-NSs exhibited electrochemical reduction in aqueous solution at-0.8 V(vs.Ag/AgCl).In addition, optical properties of S-NSs were studied for the first time, revealing a distinct wide-range absorption ranging from ultraviolet to visible region.A distinct multi-wavelength photoluminescence(PL)emission(5 bands)with superb stability over two months in air was also observed. The emergence of this newborn material,S-NSs itself, and their unique optical properties will provide new opportunities for 2D nanomaterials in the field of visible-light also observed. The emergence of this newborn material,S-NSs itself, and their unique optical properties will provide new opportunities for 2D nanomaterials in the field of visible-light active photocatalysis, sensing analysis, optoelectronics, electronics, energy storage and transistors.
