Water-soluble functional nanomaterials interact with oil-soluble polymer or oligomer ligands at the oil-water interface,forming new surfactants which can effectively reduce the interfacial energy.By taking advantage of the assembly,formation and jamming of surfactants at the interface,various functional materials can be prepared for energy,biological or catalytic applications.MXene is a 2D nanomaterial with excellent electrical conductivity and can be well dispersed in aqueous solution.A new type MXene surfactant can be formed by the cooperatice assembly of MXene and oil-soluble amine-functionalized polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane(POSS-NH2)at the water/toluene interface.The properties of MXene surfactant assembly at the interface can be regulated by changing the concentration of MXene/POSS-NH2 separately.Using novel MXene surfactants,nanomaterials can be used to prepare macroscopic 2D films and 3D aerogels.Using Pickering emulsion as the template and freeze-drying method,aerogel can be easily fabricated,showing excellent electrical conductivity and hydrophobicity,which can be used in the field of electromagnetic shielding and oil-water separation.Further,the microstructure and mechanical strength of aerogels can be effectively manipulated by adding fillers to the aqueous or oil phase.Calf thymus DNA is a commonly used double-stranded template materials.DNA interfact with oil-soluble amine-functionalized polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane(POSS-NH2)at the water/toluene interface to form DNA surfactants.By regulating the parameters such as the concentration of DNA/POSS-NH2,pH valves of water phase,ionic strength,and so on,DNA surfactant assemblies can present three states:"solid-like","elastomer-like"and "liquid-like".Using microfluidic and all-liquid molding,microcapsules and structured liquids can be prepared,which can be used in encapsulation and drug delivery.
