With the development of economy and the progress of science and technology,the superhydrophobic coating of textiles has attracted more and more attention.Superhydrophobic finishing not only endows the fabric with a good self-cleaning property,but also improves the added value of clothing.Besides,because of the weaving structure of the fabric as well as the low price it has very broad application prospects for oil/water separation.To build micro/nano structure,which is necessary for superhydrophobic surface,nanoparticles are needed for traditional superhydrophobic fabric finishing methods.While these particles tend to peel off which may do harm to human health and environmental security.Therefore,it is necessary to put forward a new superhydrophobic finishing method without the adding of nano particles.In this topic,polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)was used as adhesive.It can be self-roughened after coated on the surface of the fabric and introduce superhydrophobic property based on either the phase-separation emulsion system or co-solvent system.In the first system,the PDMS was dissolved in tetrahydrofuran(THF).Then different volume of water which is regarded as non-solvent was dropped to prepare phase-separation enulsion,and then it is used for textile finishing.After finishing treatment,the surface contact angle(CA)is greater than 155.0°,the slide angle(SA)is less than 10°.In addition,due to the high transparency of the PDMS as well as the mild modification condition,this method is also suitable for colored textiles.In the second system,the PDMS was dissolved in Hexane(n-Hexane)-THF blend solvents.The as prepared modification liquid possessed an excellent long-time stability due to the good solve ability for the co-solvent.After superhydrophobic modification,as-prepared fabric has not only excellent hydrophobic performance but also the self-healing property.All these two systems are based on the self-roughened system.They are simple and suitable for mass production.In addition,as there is no introduction of additional nano particles,it has a relatively low construction cost and do less harm for human health and environment.We believe that it has a broad application prospect in functional clothing,oil-water separation and other fields.
