In this paper,by using the method of vacuum evaporative pattern casting(V-EPC)and self-propagating high temperature synthesis technology(SHS),by changing the process parameters,the in-situ particle reinforced iron matrix surface composites were prepared under different reaction system Ti-C-Fe system and Ti-C-Fe-Al system.Based on the analysis of the composite coating preparation,surface coating quality,internal structure and surface coating hardness etc.,for obtain the best composite coating preparation technology and superior quality.The main conclusions are as follows:Firstly,by analyzing the coating in surface of prepared composite materials found in the different reaction systems by scanning electron microscopy,the micro region of the composite coating is obviously different.The size of self-generated TiC particles from Ti-C-Fe system is larger than it from in the Ti-C-Fe-Al system,but in the two systems the size of TiC particles were increased with increase of Fe content in prefabricated powder gradually;the change of the content of Fe in the sample,when the content of Fe is higher,the quality of composite coating specimen is better in the Ti-C-Fe-Al system,the corresponding coating will have some defects,when Fe content is lower the surface coating quality is worse,more defects.Secondly,in the Ti-C-Fe system,to control the content of Fe powder in the same precast,change the ratio of titanium to carbon,when the ratio is 16:1,the coating has the best quality,the distuibution Ti C particles is uniform.When determining the content of Fe and the ratio of titanium to carbon in the powder during the best process,by changing the pouring temperature to further determine the effect of temperature on the composite coating,when pouring temperature is lower(1450?),the bonding strength between the substrate and the coating is relatively lower,the composite coating is thin and the generated coating particles is not very uniform.When pouring temperature is too high(1600?),the sand sticking on surface of composite coating is serious,and internal defects in the coating increasing,so the pouring temperature should be controled about 1550?.In addition,the hardness and wear resistance of the composite coating were investigated.The influence of Fe content,Ti / C ratio and pouring temperature on the hardness of the composite coating was analyzed.The influence of Fe content on the wear resistance was also discussed.
