Mineralogical Study On Crystal Inclusions Of "Green Phantom Crystal" & "Quartz Rutilated Green"

Quartz is the most common and important rock-making minerals in nature,where high-quality gem-grade quartz is called crystal.Due to the influence of its growth environment,there are lots of mineral inclusions inside.In this dissertation,we study the mineralogical characteristic of“Green phantom Crystal”and“Quartz Rutilated Green”using different methods,such as magnification,Infrared spectrum（IR）,Raman spectrum and synchrotron radiation X-ray diffraction（SRXRD）.According to the shape of the inclusions,we classified the“Green phantom Crystal”into three type.The first are the crystals with pinpoint or scale-like inclusions,and the second are those with red sheet or granular inclusions,which remain fixed with the green inclusions.Then,the third are crystal with dark and worm-like inclusions.The relative density of“Green phantom Crystal”is about 2.64.The Raman results implied that the tiny green inclusions in the first category is chlorite,and according to the classification method of D.Foster（1962）,they are mainly chamosite,Eisen-chlorite,clinochlore.The red sheet or granular inclusions are hematite and the worm-like inclusions are chlorite,too.Some of them can be named as Eisen-chlorite.We also found other inclusions,such as biotite.The relative density of“Quartz Rutilated Green”is around 2.64,too.It is testified by Raman spectrum that those inclusions are actinolite,which have the 4Si-O stretching modes around 1000 cm^-1,Si-O-Si stretching modes at 746cm^-1和674cm^-1,and the bending mode of Si-O around 522cm^-1.Only peak of crystal can be seen in IR spectra,which may be caused by the phenomena that the inclusions is in the crystal.In addition,through literature review and research the market for“Green phantom Crystal”&“Quartz Rutilated Green”summarized the factors affecting value.
