In recent years,China's economy has developed rapidly, the process of urbanization has been accelerating, and the people's living standards have gradually improved. However, the economic development also has a strong negative impact on the air environment, and the air environment in various regions has different degrees of pollution. In turn, air pollution acts as a constraint on economic development.Based on the Romer “damping effect” model, this paper estimates the“ damping effect ” of air pollution on economic growth using the C-D production function using provincial sample data from 2006-2017.Then through the spatial autocorrelation analysis method, the spatial correlation of the “damping effect” of Chinese air pollution on economic growth is explored. The results show that on the one hand, the “damping effect” of air pollution on economic growth in China: First of all,China's air pollution did not form a “damping effect”on national economic growth during the period 2006-2017;Secondly,the“damping effect”of air pollution on provincial economic growth is quite different, and the significant area of “damping effect”is some provinces in the central and eastern regions. On the other hand,in the spatial correlation of the “damping effect” of air pollution on economic growth in China: Firstly,in the global spatial autocorrelation analysis,it is concluded that there is no significant spatial correlation of the “damping effect” of air pollution on economic growth in China,Secondly, from the analysis of local spatial autocorrelation,it is found that the “damping effect” of air pollution on economic growth in China has great local spatial differences, and there are obvious agglomeration centers and outliers. Finally, based on the results and empirical analysis, this paper puts forward some countermeasures to alleviate the “damping effect” of air pollution on economic growth in China.Firstly, strengthen the ability of source and coordinated control;Secondly, excavate the depth of air pollution control;Thirdly, the enterprise ability of enterprise to reduce emissions with bank credit business;Fourthly, promote the supervision system of “one person, one point”;Fifthly, accurately construct theregional scope of joint defense and control;Sixthly, strengthen the supervision of the masses or the media.
