Industrial pure iron materials have the advantages of high saturation magnetic induction,good corrosion resistance,high magnetic permeability,low coercivity and good ductility,and have wide applications in aerospace,military industry,precision instruments and other fields.In the field of pure iron processing,especially the processing of thin-walled and weakly rigid pure iron members,the existing methods have problems such as excessive cutting force,excessive residual stress,and serious wear of the diamond wheel.Therefore,to find an efficient and high quality processing method is especially important.In the 1930 s,the academician Wladimir Gusseff of the former Soviet Union conducted the first electrochemical mechanical processing experiment,which pioneered the Electrolytic grinding.The principle of Electrolytic grinding is the dual recombination of electrochemical corrosion and mechanical processing,and Electrolytic grinding methods,processing speed and precision are better than electrolytic machining,besides surface roughness and subsurface damage are better than mechanical processing.In this paper,we studied the anodic polarization curves of pure iron materials in three electrolytes separately,and selected suitable electrochemical mechanical processing electrolytes according to the selection principle of electrode liquid and the characteristics of typical anodic polarization curves.According to the mechanism of corrosion layer formation on the surface of pure iron material under electrochemical action,the effects of current density,electrolyte mass fraction,electrochemical action time and electrolyte flow rate on the quality of the corrosion layer were studied.The criteria for evaluating the quality of the corrosion layer are mainly the surface morphology,composition and thickness of the corrosion layer.Based on these indicators,and on the basis of understanding the influence of electrochemical parameters on the corrosion layer,the corrosion layer which can be used for Electrolytic grinding is found,and the electrochemical parameters of Electrolytic grinding are determined.Based on the suitable electrolyte and electrochemical parameters,the high-quality Electrolytic grinding process of pure iron materials was studied.According to the requirements of the process experiment,the electrochemical mechanical processing experimental platform was built and the orthogonal test was designed.Influence of grinding wheel particle size,feed rate,depth of cut and wheel speed on the roughness of pure iron material after machining were evaluated.Finally the Electrolytic grinding is compared with the traditional mechanical work.To understand the advantages and disadvantages of Electrolytic grinding and traditional machining methods.The contrast indicators mainly include surface roughness,residual stress,machining force and grinding wheel wear,etc.
