| Currently,the application of hydrogen and PEMFC in the electrical vehicle area is a very hot research topic due to its its high power density and higher efficiency.However,there are still many challenges to overcome.To promote the technology of energy conservation and emission reduction in vehicle,Shell Eco Marathon,a ultra-efficient race held by Royal Dutch Shell to provide a safe yet challenging competition for students to design,build,and drive the world’s most energy-efficient vehicles.The 2018 Shell Eco Marathon in Asia held in Singapore to select the most energy-efficient cars in the race.This paper presents a high efficiency fuel cell propulsion system,which has been designed and equipped for a prototype vehicle.The target of Shell Eco Marathon competition is high fuel efficiency,so the research focuses on the the high efficiency PEMFC power system and the test of the prototype vehicle.The main contents are as follows:(1)The vehicle dynamic is modeled to obtain the car required power and energy consumption.The characteristics of fuel cell and motor are analyzed,and power system components are selected according to required power and efficiency requirements.The voltage output model of fuel cell was established to simulate its dynamic response.(2)According to simulation and experimental verification,the driving strategy is formulated to further improve the car efficiency,and the preliminary test of the power system is conducted to verify the power demand.And the car is equipped with a powertrain structure to enable it to operate efficiently.(3)Experiments should be conducted to obtain quantitative analysis of vehicle performance,which is to verify feasibility of powertrain and driving strategy.Meanwhile,the efficiency of hydrogen energy conversion in some scenarios is evaluated.Based on the results of vehicle dynamic analysis,a high specific power PEMFC stack with 1000 W and a high performance DC brushless motor(1000W)are selected to build the propulsion system of the Shell Eco Marathon vehicle.In the race at the year of 2018,the designed vehicle won the first place. |
