At present, glass fiber reinforced epoxy resin based(GF/EP)composites are widely used in aerospace, automotive industry, transportation construction and leisure products due to their excellent properties such as light weight, high strength, corrosion resistance and fatigue resistance. In addition,GF/EP composite parts often need to be processed and connected with other parts,so it is necessary to study the influence of processing damage on the mechanical properties of GF/EP composites. At the same time, the influence of molding process on the appearance and mechanical properties of GF/EP composite materials or parts is not to be underestimated. Therefore, the influence of molding process parameters on the quality of GF/EP composite products is also a hot spot for scholars in recent years.Firstly, the paper designs the flow path for the vacuum assisted resin transfer molding(VARTM)process and the resin transfer molding(RTM)process respectively. The PAM-RTM software is used to simulate the designed flow channel. The results show that the VARTM process is injection molding. The pipe is placed in the middle of the surface. The RTM process uses multiple injection ports, and the filling efficiency is improved. However, the increase of the resin injection amount per unit time and the shortening of the filling distance are likely to cause product defects;when changing the viscosity of the resin,The filling simulation of the two processes showed that the filling time of both processes increased with the increase of the viscosity of the resin.Secondly, the VARTM process experiment platform was designed and built. The glass fiber reinforced epoxy resin(L-GF/EP)composite and the chopped glass fiber reinforced epoxy resin base(S-GF/EP)were prepared by VARTM and RTM processes. The composite material and the water-cutting technique are used to cut the prepared GF/EP composite material to obtain a mechanical property test sample. Finally, the tensile and bending properties of the experimentally prepared GF/EP composites were tested, and the tensile, curved sections and surface topography of each sample were observed using an ultra-depth three-dimensional microscopic system. The results show that under the same process conditions, the tensile strength and flexural strength of L-GF/EP composites prepared by VARTM process are higher than those of L-GF/EP composites prepared by RTM process; The bending strength of S-GF/EPcomposites prepared by the two processes is basically the same; The tensile and curved sections of L-GF/EP composites are neat than the S-GF/EP composites; From the apparent quality comparison of the samples, the surface of the sample prepared by the VARTM process is smoother and has less bubble content.
