With the rapid development of the natural gas industry, the use of natural gas continues to increase, and the mileage of gas pipelines carrying natural gas also increases. However, due to the harsh environment of the gas transmission pipeline, and with the increase of the operating time, the risk of leakage accidents is increasing, and once an accident happens,it often results in huge disaster. Therefore, the process of leakage diffusion, combustion and explosion of the gas pipeline is simulated to study the law of the leakage and diffusion of natural gas and the consequences of natural gas combustion and explosion. It provides support for accident prevention and emergency rescue of gas transmission pipelines, and ensures the safety of gas transmission pipelines.Operation and social stability are of great significance. This paper mainly studies the leakage accidents in two scenarios: leakage accidents in open areas and leakage accidents in densely populated areas. Then we select the corresponding engineering examples to construct disaster scenarios and use FLACS software to model and analyze the disaster scenarios.Simulation of the whole process of diffusion, combustion and explosion of gas pipeline leakage, analysis of the diffusion process of natural gas in the atmosphere and from underground to the atmosphere, the combustion consequences of natural gas and the consequences of natural gas explosion in confined spaces, and comparison with actual results Verify the accuracy of the simulation results.According to the simulation results, the diffusion range of natural gas in the open area is small, but due to the larger leakage rate, the combustion heat radiation value is higher and the radiation range is larger. The explosion overpressure in the open area is very small, which proves that natural gas will not produce significant overpressure when it is burns in the fully open space. The burning of natural gas in densely populated areas will endanger the safety of the buildings and people around them. The overpressure generated by explosions in confined spaces will be huge, which can cause buildings to collapse and cause casualties. The simulation results of this paper are basically consistent with the results of the accident investigation report, which proves the accuracy of the software simulation results. The proposed research method provides an analytical idea for the study of the consequences of gas transmission pipeline accidents. The analysis results provide support for the accident prevention and emergency response of gas transmission pipelines and is of great significance for ensuring the safe operation of gas transmission pipelines.
