Because aluminum alloy wheels are light in weight,safe and reliable,and have good vibration-damping behavior,long service life,fast heat dissipation and beautiful appearance,they have been widely used in the manufacturing industry of automobile.The manufacturing technique of aluminum alloy wheels mainly consists of two types: gravity casting and low pressure die casting.The latter is more suitable for the efficient mass production than gravity casting.In order to meet the need of different types of automobile,it is expected to produce wheel with various curved surface and shape.However,if the casting shape and cast process are is not rational which leads to the demand of sequential solidification is neglected in the casting of wheels,the number of products with defects will be increased and bring great loss for the company.Therefore,to conduct the research of the process of casting and cooling has great significance.With the development of computer and simulation technology,simulation is used to guide the design of casting process and mould of wheels.In this study,the research of the low pressure die casting process and cooling process of aluminum alloy wheels are conducted by simulation and experiment.In this study,using Huazhu CAE software,the simulation model of low pressure die casting process of A356.2 aluminum alloy wheels was established.The filling and solidification process was simulated.According to the simulation results,the casting structure and cooling process parameters were improved,and the aluminium alloy hub samples were trial-produced to verify the simulation results.Finally,the hub performance experiment was carried out.This study has certain instructive significance to the enhancing of the quality of aluminum alloy wheels and efficiency of company.
