Stirring and mixing equipment are widely used in industrial production.The stirrer is the core component of the equipment and its performance directly affects the mixing effect of the mixing equipment.The development of stirrers generally has two approaches: one is to design new types of impellers;the other is to use existing blades to improve the combined stirrers.With the development of modern chemical industry,higher requirements have been put forward for mixing equipment.It is necessary to develop mixers that are energy-efficient,excellent,and meet specific mixing requirements.The cup-shaped-blade(CB)stirrer is a new kind of stirring and mixing equipment.This paper systematically studies the power consumption characteristics and gas-liquid mass transfer characteristics of CB stirrer,and provides the basis and reference for further application and amplification research.First,the power consumption of CB stirrer was measured using the syrup-water system at different rotational speeds,blade angles,blade structures,and physical properties(viscosity,density)with or without baffles.The power curves were obtained.The power consumption,fluid flow field,velocity and shear rate distribution of the stirrer were studied with CFD numerical simulation techniques.And the experimentally values were fitted and power correlation is obtained.The results show that at the same Reynolds number,the power consumption of the CB stirrer increases with the increase of the blade angle,and the cup structure also has a certain impact on power consumption.Using the standard k-? model can accurately calculate the power consumption value,flow field distribution and velocity distribution of the CB stirrer.The error between the calculated value obtained by using the power correlation and the experimental value is within 20%.So it can be used to calculate the power consumption of the CB stirrer.Secondly,the gas-liquid mass transfer characteristics of the CB stirrer were studied using the Dynamic method.The effects of different rotational speeds,blade angles,blade structure,aeration volume,and surfactant concentration on the gas-liquid mass transfer performance with baffles of the CB were investigated.The experimental values were fitted and the gas-liquid mass transfer coefficient correlation for CB stirrer was obtained.The results show that the gas-liquid mass transfer performance of axial flow CB stirrers(blades angle of 15o,30o,45o)is better than the radial flow stirrers(the blades angle is 0o),among which the performance of CB2-15 is slightly better.The error between the calculated value and the experimental value is within 15%,which can be used for the calculation of the gas-liquid mass transfer coefficient of the CB stirrers.
