Astaxanthin is a kind of carotenoids,and it has been widely used in feed additives,medicine and cosmetic due to its antioxidant,antiinflammatory and anti-photosensitive.In this work,the analytical methods of chemical synthesized astaxanthin were examined systemically.The conjugation effect of astaxanthin molecular structure on its ultraviolet absorption spectrum was first studied through ultraviolet absorption wavelength of maximum theory,and the wavelength of theoretical maximum absorption is 479 nm.Then,the astaxanthin content of samples synthesized in our company was analyzed by UV-vis spectroscopy and high performance liquid chromatography,respectively.Taking the precision,accuracy,stability and analytical cost into consideration,we chose UV-vis spectroscopy as the analysis method for chemical synthesized astaxanthin in large scale At last,the effect of analytical solvent on the accuracy of astaxanthin content measured by UV-vis spectroscopy were studied.The results showed that the optimal analytical solvent was the mixture of dichloromethane and chloroform(1:3,v/v),and the peroxide value of the solvent should be lower than 0.0002%.Otherwise,the mixture solvent should be treated by hydroquinone(0.02 wt%)before using.In summary,this study provides an effective analysis method for rapid analysis of chemical synthesized astaxanthin in industry.
