With an increasing number of wireless communication customers and a more complicated condition of communication,the frequency spectrum resources of the existing frequency band are becoming more and more scare,so the spectrum of higher frequency band needs to be developed and THz antennais becoming more and more important.Comparing to millimeter-wave frequency,THz has unique properties and has become a research hotspot.On the other hand,the application prospect of grapheme in THz band is also very broad.However,the use of graphene in antennas is still less investigated up to now,especially the fabrication of graphene antenna is almost blank.Considering above,the use of graphene for a planar antenna with UWB in THz is proposed in this paper,which takes the limited factors of existing process conditions into account.Besides,it is of great significance to study the graphene in THz.In this paper,we mainly discuss the design method and key parameters of the graphene antenna with characteristics of high operating frequency and UWB.The candidate'smajor contributions are outlined as follows: First of all,the principle and related characteristics of graphene suitable for applications in THz frequency are summarized,and the methods of extending the bandwidth are concluded.Secondly,the principle of planar rectangular monopole antenna with UWB in THz is analyzed,and a graphene UWB planar rectangular monopole antenna with a center frequency of 150 GHz was designed and simulated,and then the 1×2 antenna array are discussed.Besides,the innovative method of improving the radiation performance of the graphene antenna on large substrate is introduced,and the notch technique is introduced in graphene antenna for the first time.More importantly,we fabricatedand measured the planar rectangular monopole antenna.And as a verification study,we not only explored the electromagnetic properties of the graphene antenna in THz frequency band,but also discovered the existing problems through research and measurement,which provide valuable lessons and guidance for later researchers.Thirdly,the principle of planar elliptical monopole antenna is analyzed,and a graphene UWB planar elliptical monopole antenna with a center frequency of 200 GHz was designed and simulated,and then the 1×2 antenna array are discussed.Finally,a graphene planar log-periodictooth antenna is presented.
