Thermal therapy has been applied to many diseases including cancer.The development of masks and nasal strips with hyperthermia effects not only relieves allergic rhinitis symptoms,but also has the advantage of being convenient to use.Phase change materials as an energy storage device can absorb or release a large amount of latent heat in the phase change and maintain the temperature almost constant.Applying it to thermal therapy can achieve controllable temperature and time of thermal therapy.The composite phase change material obtained by adsorbing the solid-liquid phase change material in the carrier material has good applicability because it overcomes the liquid phase leakage problem.This thesis is dedicated to promoting the application of composite phase change materials in the field of thermal therapy,and using the good temperature control function of composite phase change materials to develop portable thermal therapy masks and nasal strips suitable for the nose,and to study its temperature control characteristics,to provide a basis for practical applications.Two kinds of medical paraffin waxes with phase change temperature of 48-50 °C and 62-64 °C were selected and adsorbed into SEBS powder and then heat-refined to prepare two paraffin/SEBS composite phase change blocks with different phase change temperatures.The blocks were then placed in a filter box of a commercial silicone mask,and two thermal therapy masks were obtained.The exothermic process of the two thermal therapy masks was studied by a combination of experimental research and numerical simulation.The results show that the optimum adsorption amount of paraffin wax in composite phase change block is about 75 wt%,and the obtained phase change block has no liquid phase leakage and has good thermal reliability.The solidification phase transition temperature of the two phase change blocks is 52.96 °C and 59.70 °C,the solidification enthalpy values were 143.9 J/g and 140.0 J/g,respectively.The experimental results show that the phase change blocks with different phase transition temperatures heat the inhaled air and maintain the temperature above 43 °C for different time.The thermal therapy mask with phase change block of 59.7 °C can meet the requirements of thermal therapy;the numerical simulation of the phase change block verifies its thermal therapy performance.To improve the wearing comfort and aesthetics of the nasal thermal therapy equipment,a paraffin/SEBS based thermal therapy nasal strip was developed.Four kinds of medical paraffin with different phase transition temperatures were selected as phase change materials,which were respectively combined with SEBS according to the optimal adsorption amount,and then heat-refined to obtain four paraffin/SEBS composite phase change blocks with different phase transition temperatures,tested for heat storage properties and its exothermic properties on the skin surface.The results show that the four paraffin/SEBS composite phase change blocks have high solidification enthalpy values,above 135 J/g.The nasal sprays can heat the skin and maintain it for more than 43 °C for a while.After raising the thickness of the nasal paste from 5 mm to 10 mm,it can double the time of maintaining the skin above 43 °C.The phase change nasal strip of 10 mm thickness with OP50 E could meet the requirements of thermal therapy during the exothermic process;and hot water soaking can quickly heat the nasal spray to make the paraffin to be changed from solid to liquid for subsequent thermal therapy;and the thermal therapy nasal strip have good softness after the solid-liquid phase change of paraffin wax.
