During the 40 years since the reform and opening up,China’s import and export trade has achieved vigorous development. After nearly 40 years of high-speed growth,China’s economic development has entered a new stage, which structural adjustment has experienced a painful period under the background of gear shifting and deceleration.Economic development has raised residents’awareness of environmental protection.Currently,China’s environmental problems are increasingly prominent.Smog weather and excessive emissions of industrial SO2 etc.cause air pollution.Meanwhile, low utilization rate of water resources and solid waste emissions seriously endanger the soil health. At present,China’s economy has entered a new era and is facing the arduous task of"restructuring, promoting growth and winning the battle for environmental protection".Under this background,it is particularly important to handle the relationship between export trade and environmental protection. The previous policy in which processing environmental governance after pollution is no longer feasible. To achieve sustainable development,China must develop a green economy and implement the concept of“green development”.This paper uses the generalized impulse response function method and variance decomposition method based on VAR model to make an empirical study on the relationship between export trade and environmental pollution. After analyzing the environmental effects of export trade,I draw the following conclusions:At the initial stage of economic development,as the development of export trade, the environmental pollution situation becomes worse. When the economy develops to a certain extent, the environmental quality is improved due to the strengthening of people’s awareness of environmental protection, the increase of government investment in environmental governance and the efforts of enterprises to adjust the product structure under the dual drive of external pressure and internal power. The scale effect of export trade on the environment is negative, the structural effect and technological effect are positive, the total effect is negative in the early stage of economic development, and the total effect is positive in the long term.Environmental pollution has a certain inhibitory effect on the development of export trade.Strict environmental regulations stimulate enterprises to improve their technological innovation ability and make export structure develop towards a cleaner direction. |
