Research On The Traditional Techniques Of The Su Colored Glaze

Chinese colored glaze has a long history and has been inherited for thousands of years.It has a wide distribution range and many practitioners.Shanxi Province has been renowned as “the home of Chinese colored glaze art” all along.The research of traditional Shanxi glaze craftsmanship in the academic community,however,remained yet profound and incisive.Researching the traditional craftsmanship of The Su Colored Glaze serves great academic value in complementing and deepening traditional Shanxi glaze art.From the perspective of history of science and technology and taking the traditional craftsmanship of The Su Colored Glaze,a time-honored family of Shanxi glaze art as research subject,this thesis offers an in-depth view in studying its material,ingredient,craft process,composition and cultural innovation,using the method of field research,oral history interviews and experimental measurement.The thesis records the processing craft of The Su Colored Glaze in an authentic manner and provides some reference to future study of the subject.It is hoped that issues revealed in the thesis can also provoke contemplation for protecting and developing traditional Shanxi glaze art craftsmanship.The thesis is composed by Introduction and five chapters:In the introduction,the author introduces the origin of the topic,the purpose of the purpose,the research status,research methods,innovation and deficiencies.The first chapter introduces the history of glaze and the development of Shanxi glaze craft,also presented the historical development of The Su Colored Glaze.The second chapter gives a detailed introduction of the traditional craftsmanship of The Su Colored Glaze from aspects of material,tools andequipment,craft process and a traditional temperature measurement method using a specialized tool called “Huoduzi”.The third chapter analyzes the characteristics of the soil and glaze in The Su Colored Glaze through experiments of the local soil,the yellow glaze ingredient,element contents in remnant sample of the turquoise glaze and its interior structure using diverted measuring instruments.The fourth chapter explores the cultural contents and significance in The Su Colored Glaze by areas like material,color,product innovation and craft legacy,reflected the Local technology characteristics in parallel comparison with the lv family glaze from Hejin city,Shanxi province.Combing the current situation and practical difficulties of The Su Colored Glaze,The fifth chapter provides suggestions to the heritage of the glaze industry from the big picture.
