Research On The Influence Of Lacquer Coatings On Chinese Field Stone Cultural Relics

Field stone cultural relics are Chinese precious cultural relics,due to the increasingly serious weathering of open-air stone cultural relics,some department of cultural relics began to use lacquer coating to protect the field stone artifacts such as inscriptions and statues.Because the research on the influence of lacquer coating on stone cultural relics is rare,the surface painting of inscriptions and other cultural relics has caused doubts and discussion.In order to understand the influence of lacquer coating on stone artifacts and the anti-aging properties of different lacquers,this paper conducted a field investigation of 54 cave temples and stone carvings in Zhejiang Province,and aging the lacquer coatings in stone artifacts through simulated aging tests.The effects were studied.(1)Through the field investigation of the cave temples and stone inscriptions in Zhejiang Province,it has been found that the application of lacquer coatings in stone cultural relics is a common phenomenon.There are 23 field stone cultural relics have lacquer coatings of 54 cultural relics protection units in Zhejiang Province,and the lacquer layer falls off in 11 cultural relics.(2)Through the aging experiment of the surface coatings of simulated stone artifacts,it is found that lacquer coatings has a certain protective effect on stone cultural relics:the lacquer layer can prevent the soluble salt from repeatedly dissolving and crystallizing on the surface of the cultural relics,and has certain preventive effect on the erosion of the stone cultural relics by the soluble salt;compare to the lacquered unpainted area,the weathering speed of the painted part is slower,and the degree of mineral weathering is relatively smaller;the paint layer has a certain pre-protection effect on the aging of the stone.When the paint layer falls off,the protective effect disappears,and the cultural relics are still subject to external erosion;(3)Refined Chinese lacquer,epoxy paint and polyurethane paint have strong adhesion,and the other three groups of single-component paints are easy to fall off.The order of adhesion is:refined Chinese lacquer>polyurethane coatings,epoxy coatings>acrylic coatings>alkyd coatings>phenolic coatings;only the color difference of the refined Chinese lacquer is gradually decreasing with the increase of aging time,and the others are related to the aging time inncreasing the chromatic aberration gradually increases,therefore,the aging resistance of the refined Chinese lacquer is the best;the aging resistance of the 6 types of coatings is ranked as alkyd coatings>epoxy coatings>refined Chinese lacquer>polyurethane coatings>phenolic coatings>acrylic coatings.
