The Research On Merchant’s Organic View Of Nature From The Perspective Of Marxist View Of Nature

The ecological crisis,a major concern of mankind today,is a "legacy " of history.It shows the "disqualification" of human attitudes towards nature in the past times.Therefore,we should trace the origin of ecological crisis from the perspective of nature.Carolyn Merchant also conducted an in-depth analysis of the natural philosophical reasons for the ecological crisis.She asked questions about the way humans view nature,and pointed out that the root of ecological crisis lies in the replacement of organic natural view by mechanical natural view.Therefore,she called for the construction of a new organic view of nature,that is,a nature that respects the integrity of itself,equal treatment of individuals with differences,and an organic view of nature that achieves sustainable development.This will be very helpful for us to reflect on today’s ecological crisis.However,based on the study of the Marxist view of nature,it is possible to better explore the advantages and disadvantages of Merchant’s organic view of nature and to better exert its value.This article will conduct a specific study through six chapters.Chapter One,Introduction.This paper expounds the background and significance of choosing Merchant’s organic view of nature as the research theme,analyzes the research situation of domestic and foreign scholars on her thoughts,clarifies the thinking of this ideological theme,and points out the innovation and shortcomings of this paper.The second chapter is a summary of the Marxist view of nature.After carefully analyzing the historical origins of the Marxist view of nature and expounding the formation process of the Marxist view of nature,this paper discusses the content of Marxist view of nature from three aspects: the ontology of man and nature,the theory of practice and the relationship of value.Therefore,it provides a theoretical basis for studying Merchant’s organic view of nature from the perspective of Marxist view ofnature.The third chapter is an overview of Merchant’s organic view of nature.It is mainly about the emergence of Merchant’s organic view of nature and its theoretical core.In terms of the generation of its ideas,the spread and intensification of the ecological crisis in the world,the transformation of nature and the image of women,and the development of the ecofeminist movement promoted the exploration of environmental ethics by Merchant;the various variants of the organic view that emerged during the Renaissance,the mechanical view of nature that developed in the seventeenth century,and the rebellious ideas of the mechanical view of nature in the late seventeenth century all showed the theoretical background of her thoughts.In the combing of the theoretical core,she first proposed that people should construct a new concept of nature that regards nature as an active and organic unity.Secondly,she advocated an egalitarian value that is different from the binary opposition of a specific form under the mechanical concept.Finally,the values of new nature and egalitarianism require a cooperative ecological ethics to achieve a harmonious symbiosis between man and nature.Based on this,the overall organic conception of Merchant is sorted out,and the following discussion is carried out.The fourth chapter is a review of Merchant’s organic view of nature based on the Marxist view of nature.On the one hand,in the harmonious coexistence between mankind and nature,the economic cause of ecological crisis,and the common pursuit of sustainable development,Merchant’s organic view of nature has a fit with Marxist view of nature,that is,certain common views.On the other hand,it reveals the theoretical dilemma of Merchant’s organic view of nature from the aspects of human’s practical initiative,the elimination of ecological crisis,and the definition of sustainable development.Regardless of its advantages and disadvantages,Merchant’s organic view of nature provides ideas for humans to think about ecological issues.The fifth chapter is the contribution and enlightenment of Merchant’s organic view of nature.In terms of theoretical contributions,her criticism of the mechanical view of nature is at the forefront of the academic world,showing the forward-looking nature of her ideas.She reconstructed the human ethics of nature,which plays animportant role in the development of environmental ethics and shows the profoundness of her thoughts.In terms of realistic enlightenment,returning to practice,taking the essence of Merchant’s organic view of nature,giving play to the social function of Merchant’s organic view of nature and supporting the construction of ecological civilization in China,this is also the practical significance of this study.Chapter VI,conclusions.To sum up the full text,it is pointed out that to alleviate the ecological crisis existing in the world today,we must truly change people’s concept of nature and redefine the relationship between man and nature.In response to the common appeal of natural ecological environment and sustainable development of human beings,Merchant proposed a new path of harmony between man and nature,which provides a forward path for the future of nature and mankind.Merchant’s idea of organic nature has made an in-depth study on the emergence of ecological crisis and the harmonious coexistence between man and nature from a unique perspective.It not only shows the originality of Merchant’s idea,but also makes a useful reference for the construction of ecological civilization in China.
