In order to probe into the changes of ecological environment quality in arid and semi-arid mining areas in northwest China,we takes Wuhai,Inner Mongolia as the research area and selects 13 factors,namely,slope,slope direction,curvature,topographic relief,elevation,Normalized Difference Vegetation Index(NDVI).the nearest distance to the river,the nearest distance to the lake,the nearest distance to the national highway,the nearest distance to the county road,the nearest distance to the railway,the nearest distance to the highway and population density.We use Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process(FAHP)to builds the ecological environment evaluation model of Wuhai from 2000 to 2018,and analyzes the spatial and temporal change characteristics of its ecological environment.The random forest model is used to determine the main driving factors affecting the ecological environment change in Wuhai.The results indicate that improvement was the main tendency in the ecological environment of Wuhai in the period from 2000 to 2018.which the ecological environment in 2005 was the worst(average ecological environment sensitive index =0.100),and the ecological environment in 2018 was the best(average ecological environment sensitive index=0.111).In terms of districts with improved ecological environment in Wuhai,the area of ecological degradation reached the maximum in Wuda District(205km2),most areas in Hainan District remained unchanged,and the unchanged area reached 661.74 km2,and most areas in Haibowan District were improved,and the improved area reached 515.16 km2.Population density,the closest distance to the river,the closest distance to the highway,the closest distance to the national highway,the closest distance to the lake,the normalized vegetation index,elevation,topographic relief,the closest distance to the county road and the closest distance to the railway are the main driving factors affecting the ecological environment change of Wuhai.The population density is the mainly best driving factor.This research selects 13 disturbance factors reflecting the topography,environment and human factors of ecological environment changes to explore the spatial and temporal change characteristics of the ecological environment of Wuhai and the main driving factors,which provides scientific basis and guiding opinions for ecological environment in resource-developing cities.
