A downhole self-operated rotatory vortex unit for water drainage and gas production was designed in order to study the influence that the flow parameters in the well is changed the motion behavior of eddy body.There are main contents about this paper for the purpose of study and the unit.(1)it was investigated the technical status and limitations of vortex drainage and gas recovery technology,tools and related applications at China and abroad.(2)The fluid parameters were calculated in well,the unit was preliminarily designed and introduced to study its performance parameters at the definite working conditions.(3)The safety of rotor blades was verified;the field of eddy body was simulated,and the variation of the flow parameters was analyzed.(4)A new design scheme was proposed to optimize the performance of the unit and key parts;There were investigated the effect of the internal hydraulic diameter and the number of rotor blades on the internal performance for the unit;Structural parameters of eddy body were optimized.(5)The number of initial swirls,the variation of free swirling intensity and the upward distance of the unstable liquid film were studied.There are eight main conclusions through the study.(1)Rotor blades are safe at given conditions.(2)The liquid holdup rate is made change maintained.(3)The new unit is easier to meet working conditions than the original device.(4)Unfilled phenolic resin can be used as the optimum material for the rotor of the new unit.(5)The hydraulic diameter is larger,the pressure drop for the inlet and outlet of the internal flow region in this unit is the smaller;the number of rotor blades are more,the smaller the pressure drop of the inlet and outlet of the flow area increases and then decreases.(6)The installation angle for blade is 60°,the number of blades is 8 and The radius of the cylindrical base is 0.021 m,which is the structural parameter combination after the optimization of the eddy body.(7)The free swirl initiation strength formula may indicate that it is necessary to optimize the structure parameters of the eddy body.(8)The fluid free swirl intensity can be increased by increasing the number of initial swirls and decreasing the attenuation coefficient.
