Both silk fabrics and cotton fabrics are natural fiber fabrics, which have good comfort and are popular among consumers.Silk companies need to consider cost and performance when developing new products. The author’s professional internship company proposed the idea of using superposed method to study the thermal and moisture comfort of multilayer natural fabrics.Provide reference for the development of multilayer fabrics through basic experimental research. In this paper, the silk fabric with health care effect and the cotton fabric with low cost and wide application were taken as research objects. The thermal-moisture comfort of natural superposed fabrics was studied from various angles, which provides a basic reference for companies to develop new fabrics. This paper could be summarized as the following three aspects:(1)By testing the air permeability, moisture permeability and thermal resistance of each superposed fabric, combined with relevant theories, the relationship between the number of fabric layers and the air permeability, moisture permeability and thermal resistance of the superposed fabric was studied and established.(2)In order to better compare the thermal and wet comfort properties of silk fabrics and cotton fabrics, three sets of silk fabrics and cotton fabrics with similar specifications were designed and woven together with the cooperative enterprises. And the sample fabric was obtained by degumming(desizing)process.(3)Three sets of silk fabrics and cotton fabrics of similar specifications were combined into silk/cotton double-layer fabrics in different superposed order, and the thermal and wet comfort properties under steady-state and non-steady-state conditions of the double-layer fabrics was compared. The results show that:(1)The number of layers of fabric has a very significant effect on the air permeability, moisture permeability and thermal resistance of the superposed fabric. The number of fabric layers is negatively related to fabric air permeability and moisture permeability, and is linearly positively correlated with fabric thermal resistance.(2)When the sample specifications are similar and the number of layers is the same, the air permeability and moisture permeability of the silk fabric are better than that of the cotton fabric, but the warmth of the cotton fabric is superior to that of the silk fabric. In addition, the experimental results further verified the universality of the above functional relationships.(3)Under steady-state conditions, the superposed order has little effect on the gas permeability and moisture permeability of the doublelayer composite fabric, but has a great influence on the warmth retention. When the cotton fabric is located in the inner layer, the thermal resistance is larger and the warmth retention is relatively better;Under non-steady state conditions, the superposed order has little effect on the warmth retention of the two-layer composite fabric, but has a great influence on the dynamic transfer performance of the liquid water. When the cotton fabric is located in the inner layer of the doublelayer composite fabric, the one-way transfer index of the liquid water is large, and the fabric has a strong one-way transmission capability to liquid water.
